Dave Clissitt fell in love with the great outdoors at a very young age; growing up in a small village in South East Wales. Dave spent every spare minute he had running on the hills and mountains of the Brecon Beacons or climbing at a local crag. Dave joined the Royal Marines at the tender age of 17 and was fortunate enough to have served all over the world, including the mountains of Norway, Canada and North Africa.
After leaving the Royal Marines Dave threw himself into full time adventuring and travelled to India, Nepal, Tibet, Australia and all across Europe,

Sophie started running as an adult, improving from a middle-of-the-pack runner to elite. I’m now focused on ultra marathons where she has have achieved a number of wins and podiums on road and trail. In 2019, competing for Scotland, she won the British 100km Championship. With international championships wiped out in 2020 she was thrilled to get a GB vest for the IAU’s Virtual Solidarity Run. I moved from Scotland to the coast and mountains of the Costa Blanca in 2020.
After a Masters degree at the University of Cambridge I completed a PhD in statistical history at the University of St Andrews, where I later worked in Knowledge Transfer, reading and synthesising research across the arts and sciences. Then I moved on to software development and worked at LiveCode for three years. This background has given me the desire (and skills) to research, learn, question and understand science from all disciplines. I keep up to date with the latest sports science (to geek levels).
